A small firm with a specific focus. Here's what we actually are and how we got here.
Founded on a gap that kept showing up
Lyshen & Yun was set up in 2019 by two people who kept running into the same problem from different sides: Polish importers who didn't know what documentation to ask their Chinese suppliers for, and Chinese suppliers who didn't understand what Polish customs actually required.
The firm is named after its founders — Karolina Lyshen, who handles the Polish customs side, and Wei Yun, who handles the Chinese supplier side. The arrangement is simple: we can speak both languages in the literal sense, and we've found that resolves most of the problems that are genuinely about communication rather than anything more complicated.
We're based in Białystok, in northeastern Poland. The location matters less than it used to — customs declarations are filed electronically and most of the document exchange happens by email. But we're here if a matter requires in-person presence.
Two people, two languages, one area of focus
Karolina Lyshen
Karolina holds a Polish customs agent licence and spent six years at a Warsaw-based freight forwarding company before co-founding Lyshen & Yun in 2019. Her work at the forwarding company covered import declarations for electronics and consumer goods — the same product categories that generate the most customs complexity for Polish SMEs. She handles HS classification, SAD preparation, and ongoing communication with Polish customs authorities.

Wei Yun studied international trade at Poznań University of Economics, then worked for three years sourcing industrial components for a Polish manufacturing group — which meant spending a lot of time on the phone with factories in Guangdong and Zhejiang. That experience made him useful for exactly the kind of supplier communication that a lot of Polish importers find slow or unreliable when done through translation. He handles all direct contact with Chinese suppliers, document requests, and pre-shipment coordination.

We don't have a freight forwarding licence, so we can't arrange the physical transport of your goods. We work alongside freight forwarders and shipping agents but we don't replace them.
We file declarations under Polish customs jurisdiction. If your goods are clearing through Germany, the Netherlands, or another EU member state, you'll need a broker licensed there for the actual filing — we can advise and prepare documentation, but we can't submit on your behalf in another country.
We're a two-person operation. We're not trying to grow into a large agency. What that means in practice is that you'll always deal with one of us directly — not with a junior account manager who forwards your emails to someone else.
